Amazon Targets Videogame Developers With 3D Game Engine

Seattle-based Amazon Web Services is targeting videogame developers with a new service, Amazon Lumberyard, which it says helps game developers create cloud-connected games. Amazon.com said its new Lumberyard service, which is free, lets users create 3D worlds, characters, and real-time effects to games, by tapping into the AWS cloud and a drag-and-drop, graphical user interface. The new tool also connects to Twitch. In addition to Amazon Lumberyard, Amazon rolled out Amazon GameLift, a related tool to help developers scale their game servers dependent on player demand; Amazon GameLift costs $1.50 per 1,000 daily active users, on top of any other AWS services consumed.
