Uber Rolls Out Colorful Lights In Seattle To Reduce Ride Confusion
It's not just the holiday spirit putting colorful lights all over Seattle--it's also on demand ride service Uber, which said Wednesday that it has launched a test of a new system which uses glowing, multi-colored lights in Seattle to help riders find the right vehicle in the city. According to Uber, it's testing a new system it calls SPOT, which provides some local drivers with special devices that mount on their car windshields, and will glow a rider's chosen color to help those riders identify their ride. Uber's new test comes as the service has found that it's sometimes difficult to have riders and drivers find each other in crowded or dark conditions--with many reports of people getting into the wrong car thinking it's their Uber ride.
