NYTimes: Amazon A Bruising Workplace

The New York Times published a scathing news article on Saturday, describing Seattle-based Amazon.com as a "bruising workplace", where workers are expected to answer emails after midnight; where staff are "culled annually"; and workers with personal crises are edged out of the company. According to the New York Times, the company is "conducting a little-known experiment in how far it can push white-collar workers". Amazon.com's Jeff Bezos, in a memo to workers, responded to the article with a rebuttal , saying that he did not recognize the workplace portrayed in the article.
