Donuts Plans Major Domain Name Rollout
Bellevue-based top level domain registry provider Donuts, which is led by Paul Stahura, is planning a big rollout of 1.369 million previously reserve ddomain names, starting this month through September. According to Donuts, the huge swath of names started with a batch of photography-related top level domains (.photos, .camera, .gallery, etc), released yesterday, and will roll on to until September 9th--when it will release a number of two character domain names. Donuts is offering up a large selection of new, top-level domain extensions, which allow companies to reserve domains who are not the traditional .com, .net, .org and other extensions. Unique domain names in those areas have been tough to find, and the organization responsible for managing domain names--ICANN--approved and has been managing the plan to roll out the new, top level domain names that are now being offered by Donuts.
