Microsoft Rolls Out New, $25 Phone

Redmond-based Microsoft has a new phone, and it's making it available at a bargain price: only $25.00, with no requirements for long term contracts. The company said the new device is aimed squarely at first-time mobile phone buyers, users looking for a backup to their smartphone, and for emerging markets like China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and Vietnam. According to Microsoft Devices Group (once known as Nokia), the new Nokia 130 is priced at 19 euros (roughly $25.00), and includes such features as a video player, music player, FM radio, and USB charging. The phone also has a huge advantage over current, smartphones: it has up to 36 days of standby battery life for its single SIM variant. The company did not say if it ever intends to roll out the phone in the US or other, smartphone dominated markets.
