Simple Opens Up Wide Access To Banking Service
Portland-based online bank Simple is opening up the floodgates, telling its users Wednesday that it has opened up access to anyone who would like to create an account on the service. The mobile banking provider had previously only allowed users to join if they were invited by another user--part of an effort to slowly scale out the service. Simple said the move came after its acquisition by BBVA in February, a move which gives it a lot more resources to handle new accounts. Simple's mobile-first banking service caters to smartphone users, letting them do nearly anything they'd do with their bank through an app.
