Flywheel Ramps Taxi App Efforts In Seattle
Taxi summoning app developer Flywheel said today that it is ramping up its efforts to serve the Seattle area, and has cut its fares up to 40 percent. The app developer--which works with local taxi companies to help provide an Uber-style, smartphone driven way to track taxis and summon a ride--said it made the "dramatic fare cut" to provide more consitent, predictable pricing compared with "competitive transportation services." Flywheel is aiming at Uber, which can often command very expensive, "surge" pricing rates depending on high demand times through the deal.Flywheel said it never has "surge pricing" unlike many of its competitors. Flywheel says it is currently serving Seattle, Bellevue, Burien, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kent, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Northgate, Redmond, SeaTac and Shoreline, among other markets, via its partnership with Eastside for Hire.
