Microsoft Buys GreenButton
Redmond-based Microsoft said Thursday that it has acquired GreenButton, a developer of software used to manage compute-intensive cloud workloads. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Microsoft said that it will work to integrate GreenButton's software into the Microsoft Azure platform, which is Microsoft's cloud computing product. GreenButton was based in New Zealand. As part of the acquisition, Microsoft said it will no longer be accepting new customers to GreenButton, with the intent to make the service available as part of Azure later in the year.
