Microsoft CEO Ballmer To Retire

Redmond-based Microsoft Corp. announced this morning that its CEO, Steve Ballmer, has decided to retire. According to Microsoft, Ballmer will retire sometime in the next 12 months, after the company chooses a successor. Microsoft said it has created a special committee to find the new CEO of Microsoft, chaired by John Thompson, and also included Bill Gates, Chuck Noski, and Steve Luczo. Microsoft has tapped executive recruiting firm Heidrick & STruggles International for a search for the new CEO.
