Cray Adds Hadoop Support

Seattle-based Cray said this morning that it has added support for the popular "big data" software Hadoop on its CS300 line of clustered supercomputers. According to Cray, its new Hadoop solution will let users use both supercomputing as well as Hadoop's distributed big data software on its machines. Cray said the machines will run the Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop, and run the Linux operating system. Haddop is being used by companies for massively parallel, distributed "big data" applications.
