Microsoft Provides $2 Billion Loan To Dell Buyout Group
Details of Microsoft's role in the private equity buyout of Dell emerged this morning, with Microsoft saying that it has provided a $2 billion loan to the group that has proposed to buy out Dell. That group--made up of Dell founder Michael Dell, and private equity firm Silver Lake Partners--said it would pay $24.4 billion for Dell. The group says it will pay $13.65 per share in cash for the shares of Dell not owned by Michael Dell, taking Dell off the public market.
