Itron Selected By Northeastern Electric Provider

Liberty Lake-based smart meter maker Itron has been selected by a electricity provider in the Northeast, National Grid, in a 15,000 meter deployment, the firm said this morning. Itron said National Grid, which has approximately 3.4 million customers in the Northeast, is using the company's smart grid meters as part of a pilot program with Cisco. The program is installing 10,000 new smart meters in Worcester, Mass., on top of an earlier 5,000 meter field trial. Financial impact of the deal were not announced.
