Amazon Launches Wine Store

Add one more product category for Seattle-based Amazon.com: wine. Amazon said today that it has launched a new site, Amazon Wine, where it will sell thousands of wines for shipment to 12 states and the District of Columbia. Amazon said it is working with wineries around the country for the new store, which will also feature tasting notes, recommended food pairings, and more. Amazon said customers in California, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming and the District of Columbia can take advantage of the service. Alcohol laws and interstate shipping for wine is a significant hurdle for Amazon, which says it is planning to expand to other states soon.
