Kindle Lending Library Rolls Out In UK, Germany and France
Amazon.com said Thursday that it is rolling out its Kindle Owners' Lending Library in the UK, Germany, and France later this month, the first time the book borrowing program will debut outside the United States. Amazon's Lending Library allows members of Amazon Prime to borrow books for free, borrowing one book a month on the Kindle. As part of the move, Amazon said it increased its KDP Select Fund to $700,000, an increase of $100,000, with a larger increase expected in November. Amazon pays authors from its KDP Select Fund when users borrow their books, paying $2.29 per borrow, which the company says is more than many of those same books are purchased directly.
