Amazon Gets New Competition From Walmart's Same Day Delivery
Amazon.com has a big new challenger in the e-commerce arena, after Walmart announced the test launch of a new, same-day delivery service. Walmart's new "Walmart To Go" service, which has so far launched in Northern Virginia, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, is set to launch in the Bay Area later this month. The service looks to be direct competition for Amazon's Local Express and Prime Local Express services, which are available in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Seattle, and Washington, DC. Amazon typically charges around $8.99 per shipment and an additional $0.99 per item for same day delivery; Walmart's new service will cost a flat $10 for any number of items.
