Amazon Expands Same Day Shipping To Toronto, Vancouver

Seattle-based Amazon.com is taking its sale day delivery to its first markets outside of the United States, saying it is now offering same-day delivery in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada. The move, which comes as the holiday season just kicks off, will offer same day delivery starting at $6.99. The company faces some stiff competition in Canada, where Wal-Mart has been offering same day deliveries--for free--since September. The move is part of increasing competition for holiday orders for online retailers, but comes at the cost of increased shipping costs and lower margins for those retailers.
