Microsoft Buys PhoneFactor

Microsoft said this morning that it has acquired PhoneFactor, a developer of two-factor authentication technology, which uses phone, text messaging, and other means to better secure corporate and other applications. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. PhoneFactor said that its products have been used by Microsoft customers to protect data on SharePoint, file servers, and other critical business apps. Microsoft said it will integrate PhoneFactor into key Microsoft technologies like Active Directory, Windows Azure Active Directory and Office 365.
