Carena Finds $14M
Seattle-based Carena, a provider of virtual medicine services which provides patients with around-the-click access to registered nurse practitioners via telephone, webcam, and in-person house calls, has raised $14M in a funding round. The firm said the financing was led by Catholic Health Initiates, the national nonprofit health system. Carena said the deal will allow it extend its geographic reach beyond Washington and California, and expand its offerings. Carena's services are aimed at helping provide alternatives to hospital emergency rooms and urgent care clinics, for conditions such as sore throats, ear aches, sinus congestion, and abdominal pain.
