Ignition Partners Backs Virtualization Software Startup
Bellevue-based Ignition Partners has invested more money in a Silicon Valley-based developer of virtualization software, Bromium, in a $26.5M investment round for that firm. Bromium said the Series B funding round was led by Highland Capital Partners, intel, Andreessen Horowitz, and Ignition Ventures. Ignition is an existing investor in the company, with Ignition's Frank Artale holding a board seat at Bromium. Bromium is applying software virtualization techniques to operating systems, allowing applications to run in "micro" virtualized environments within an operating system of a PC or mobile device, which allows those devices to be more secure and avoid malware and other security threats.
