Donuts In Strategic Deal With Demand Media
Seattle-based Donuts, the top level domain startup headed by Paul Stahura, has inked a deal to sell a group of its top level domains to Demand Media, Demand Media said this morning. Financial details of the arrangement were not announced. Donuts--backed by $100M in funding--said last week that it will be acquiring new, generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs), the domain name extension being offered up by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Demand Media said it has an agreement to acquire certain TLDs after they have been awarded to Donuts by ICANN. Demand Media is already serving as the registry operator for Donuts, which was founded by former Demand Media exec Stahura. Stahura said in a statement that the acquisition deal will take the firm "well beyond" the $100 million in funding.
