SmartRG Spins Out Of ClearAccess
On the heels of the acquisition of Vancouver, Washington-based ClearAccess by Cisco Wednesday, ClearAccess said it is spinning out the hardware portion of the business into a new company, SmartRG>. The new company, which will be headed by Jeff McInnis. the former VP of Solution Sales for ClearAccess, said it will current to develop residential gateway products, licensing its ClearVision management system in a deal with Cisco. The new company said it will invest in its DSL and Ethernet gateway product line, and remain headquartered in Vancouver. Cisco acquired the software assets--plus engineers supporting that software--in its acquisition. ClearAccess founder Ken Hood is joining Cisco to support that software acquisition.
