Amazon Launches Workflow Service
Seattle-based Amazon Web Services said Monday evening that it has launched a new service, Amazon Simple Workflow Service (Amazon SWF), a service which developers can use to build scalable applications. The new addition to Amazon's lineup of cloud-based services provides a way for developers to coordinate the processing of information across distributed systems, scheduling tasks across a network of distributed processing systems. Amazon said the new service is already being used by customers such as the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Sage Bionetworks, RightScale, and others.
