Seattle-based Amazon.com said Tuesday that it is buying a catalog of children's books, as part of its Amazon Publishing arm. Amaozn said that it is acquiring over 450 titles from Marshall Cavendish Children's Books, a publisher of educational and consumer books. Financial details of the sale were not disclosed. Amazon said the buy will help its publishing arm further expand into picture books, chapter books, and Young Adult novels. Amazon explained that it will continue to publish the books in print, but also was looking forward to making them available on the Kindle Fire. Marshall Cavendish was advised by AtWood Capital Partners in the deal.
