Amazon Launches Kindle Textbook Rentals

Seattle-based Amazon.com said today that it has launched a new program which will rent textbooks to students on the Kindle Store. According to Amazon, the rental program will offer up "tens of thousands" of textbooks, from publishers such as John Wiley & Sons, Elsevier, and Taylor & Francis. The company claims that the program can save students up to 80 percent on traditional textbooks, based on 30 day rental prices. The rentals can be from between 30 and 360 days.
