Microsoft Sues Barnes & Noble Over Android

Redmond-based Microsoft Corp. said Monday afternoon that it has sued Barnes & Noble, Foxconn, and Inventec, over patent infringement by Barnes & Noble's Android based e-reader and tablet devices. According to Microsoft, the lawsuit comes because the Android platform infringes on a number of its patents. Microsoft said that "companies manufacturing and shipping Android devices must respect our intellectual property rights." The lawsuit comes after a year of attempts to get Barnes & Noble, Foxconn, and Inventec to pay Microsoft licensing fees, Microsoft said.
