Microsoft Rolls Out Collaborative Filtering Technology
Microsoft's Bing search engine has rolled out some new, collaborative filtering technology it is calling Matchbox, the firm said over the weekend. Bing said its new technology makes predictions on what users might want to see on the web, looking to "understand" the web more like a human might. Initially available on the web and on Windows Phone 7, the company said the new technology will filter news stories by automatically predicting news categories; allow users to see what stories friends are sharing via sites like Twitter; and recommend stories based on a users' interests.
