Amazon Backed Cirtas Gets More Funding

Cirtas Systems, a Silicon Valley enterprise cloud storage products firm which is backed by Amazon, and uses Amazon's S3 storage service for its cloud storage, has gained new funding today. According to Cirtas, it has raised $22.5M in a Series B funding, which included Amazon, as well as new investors Shasta Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners, as well as prior investors NEA and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Amazon is a prior backer of Cirtas, and provides all of the cloud-based storage that sits behind the storage controllers sold by Cirtas. Cirtas develops a hardware controller which provides enterprise-class storage for companies, while using Amazon S3 for the back end storage capacity. Cirtas is based in San Jose, California.
