Janrain Wins Ning
Portland-based Janrain, the developer of software used to manage single sign-on of users into online services, has been selected by social networking site Ning, Ning said Wednesday. Ning said it will use Janrain to add the ability to add social login and invite friends features for their members. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Ning said the move will allow users using Ning websites to more easily add users using existing accounts from Facebook, Google, Yahoo!, and others. JanRain allows users to create their own custom social networking sites; the firm is backed by Marc Andreessen. Janrain's services allow web sites to accept third party logins from Facbeook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, and many other services.
