CafePress Bolsters ImageKind With Acquisition

San Mateo, California-based CafePress, the firm which bought Seattle-based ImageKind in 2008, said Thursday that it is bolstering its custom art and canvas efforts with the acquisition of Canvas on Demand. According to CafePress, the acquisition will help create a union of "best of breed" businesses offering custom art and canvases. CafePress did not say how it intends to link the two businesses. Both ImageKind and Canvas On Demand offer online sites to allow artists and others to create custom art and canvases, and were direct competitors.
