Clearwire's Pay As You Go Plan: Rover
Kirkland-based Clearwire has officially rolled out its pay-as-you-go Internet plan, the firm announced today, called Rover. According to the firm, the service will be priced at $5 per day, $20 a week, or $50 a month, and will not require a contract. The firm said it is targeting the brand at "digitally addicted youth" who do not want a long term contract. Clearwire said its wireless service will be available across all of its 49, 4G markets, and will be available online, at CLEAR stores, Best Buy, and "select" independent wireless dealers in Houston and St. Louis. In announcing the new service, Clearwire said it is looking to capitalize on the interest of Gen-Y customers who "refuse to settle for long-term contracts." As part of the service, Clearwire also said it would be selling the Rover Puck, a device which allows users to connect to its network, for $149.99.
