INRIX Powers MapQuest Traffic Data Expansion
Kirkland-based INRIX is behind a major expansion by online mapping site MapQuest, which is owned by AOL. According to MapQuest this week, it has "dramatically" expanded the amount of traffic information shown on the site, tapping the INRIX SpeedWaves technology. MapQuest said the addition of the data brings it to over a quarter million miles of coverage of roads throughout major cities in North America. The firm said the use of SpeedWaves factors in the impact of stoplights and stop signs on traffic flow to provide a more realistic and reliable view of traffic conditions along secondary roads. No financial details of the deal between the firms was given.
