Jive, Fresh From HQ Move, Snags $30M More

Jive Software, the developer of enterprise social networking software, has made its first major move after transfering its headquarters from Portland--raising $30M in funding from Silicon Valley venture firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. According to Jive late Tuesday evening it raised $30M in its Series C round. The funding brings the company's total raised to around $57.3M. The firm did not say if the funding was at all related to its HQ move in May to Palo Alto, however, it's fairly common for venture firms to dictate similar moves as conditions of funding rounds. Jive said in May that it was moving its headquarters to Silicon Valley, due to its growth from 4 to 50 people in the last year in that location, though the firm still maintains a presence in Portland. The firm is also rumored to be looking at an IPO, which also often drives the move to set up shop in Silicon Valley. More information »
