WhitePages Rolls Out New Business Search
With its eye on Google and Bing, Seattle-based WhitePages said Thursday that it has launched a new version of its WhitePages Business Search. According to the firm, the new version of its site is specifically focused on eliminating the frustration of "scrolling through search engine results" when looking for local chains, doctors, dentists, or other businesses. Among the big differences between the new service and the other search engines is a big focus on bringing up relevant contact information only about local stores, rather than the surprising mishmash of (often) irrelevant or confusing information you get from the major search sites. Among other updates to WhitePages is a new "WhitePages Store Locator" which provides contact information for 2,500 of the most popular national business chains on a single map. WhitePages claims it has contact information for 15 million businesses around the US.
