Parallels Takes Aim At VMware
Renton, Washington-based software maker Parallels is taking aim at virtualization software provider VMware today, saying it is hoping to convince current VMware Fusion users to switch to Parallels Desktop via a special pricing deal. Parallels said it is offering a special, $39.99 price for VMware Fusion users, if they'd like to switch to the software, which allows Macintosh users to run Windows programs. Parallels said that VMware "doesn't deliver the performance" of its solution, and that it has seen the "disappointment" of its competitor's users with its software.
