SiteScout Acquired By Online Advertising Firm
Seattle-based SiteScout, the provider of malware security technology which is headed by Rob Lipschutz, has been acquired. According to Los Angeles-based Rubicon Project, a developer of online advertising optimization products, it is acquiring SiteScout and opening up a new office in Seattle. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Rubicon said it would use the buy to protect its premium publishers against "malvertising", online ads which are used to spread malware to unsuspecting web sites. Rubcion said Lipschutz will had up its Brand Protection offerings, and that it will set up an office in Seattle to take advantage of the "rich engineering talent" in the city. The company said it has plans to hire in areas of engineering, product, and security at its new Pioneer Square office.
