Real Launches GameHouse
Seattle-based RealNetworks said today that it has launched a new effort, GameHouse Fusion, focused on social gaming. The firm said the new unit--a division of GameHouse, formerly RealGames--will focus on providing game developers with access to its network of 50 million players, via Facebook, MySpace, mobile phones, PCs, and other products. The firm's initial application is GameHouse on Facebook, a free application which allows Facebook users to access around a thousand games distributed by the company. RealNetworks said that Gamehouse is providing an SDK, the GameHouse Fusion SDK, which will allow developer of games to distribute their applications to PC gaming portals via the network. The firm also said it will be releasing SDKs for Brew, BREW MP, iPhone, Android and other mobile devices later this year.
