Amazon Ships Mac Kindle Software
Seattle-based Amazon.com announced late Wednesday evening that it has rolled out a new, Mac version of its Kindle electronic book software. Amazon said "Kindle for Mac" allows Macintosh users with access to the U.S. Kindle store, and is now available for free for download. Amazon's Kindle reader software also is available on the Kindle, Kindle DX, iPhone, iPod touch, BlackBerry, PC and Mac. Like the firm's other version of its Kindle reader software, the Kindle for Mac version support synchronization of bookmarks across all of the platforms, purchase of books from the Kindle store, and viewing of notes and highlights from other platforms. Notable missing features of the Mac version, which Amazon said it will be adding, are full text search and ability to create and edit notes and highlights.
