Amazon Boots Colorado Associates Over Internet Tax
Seattle-based Amazon.com has booted its Colorado affiliates, over a new law recently passed in the state looking to tax online retailers. In an email sent to associates in Colorado, Amazon said it would shut down those associates' accounts as of Monday, due to HB 10-1193, a new tax law passed in Colorado. Amazon explained that the recently enacted law was "burdensome" and was the "wrong way" for the state to pursue its revenue goals. Colorado Governor Bill Ritter recently pushed through a slate of tax bills, in an attempt to close that state's budget gaps.
