Expedia Launches Tools For Disabled Travelers
Bellevue, Washington-based travel site Expedia.com said Tuesday that it is looking to help disabled travelers to find and book accommodations, with a new set of search tools. According to Expedia, it is now offering search tools to find accommodations with accessibility equipment for the deaf, accessible bathrooms, accessible paths of travel, Braille or raised signage, in-room accessibility, a roll-in shower, and other features for the disabled. The firm also said it is specifically having its customer service team contact hotels to make sure those requests are met for disabled travelers, or to move those reservations to similar rooms at other hotels with the right facilities. The firm said the new services for disabled travelers quietly launched in August, and it's now getting around 500 call center requests a week for the new services.
