Facebook Opens Data Center In Oregon

Social networking website Facebook said Thursday that it has opened its first data center, selecting a site in Prineville, Oregon for its first custom data center. According to Facebook, which previously leased data center space, the data center will be the first operated by the company. Facebook said the new data center, which broke ground yesterday, will use energy efficiency technology to minimize the impact of its facility and energy costs.
