SonoSite Settles With GE

Bothell-based SonoSite, a developer of portable ultrasound instruments, announced Monday that it has resolved a set of patent litigation suits with General Electric. The firm said that GE will pay SonoSite $21M, plus an ongoing royalty on U.S. sales and production of hand-carrier, ultrasound systems weighing less than ten pounds. In exchange, SonoSite said it will provide GE with a perpetual, nontransferable worldwide license to its patents. SonoSite said the settlement would dismiss all pending legal actions between the firms.
