Microsoft Gets Blamed In Sidekick Data Loss
T-Mobile is blaming Microsoft subsidiary Danger, for a massive data loss issue for users of its Sidekick data service. T-Mobile told Sidekick users that personal information stored on Sidekick devices, including contact, calendars, to-do lists, and photos--have "almost certainly has been lost" due to a server failure at Microsoft/Danger. Microsoft bought Danger in Feburary of 2008 for around $500M, for Danger's Sidekick applications and services. T-Mobile advised its users to not reset their device, remove their battery, or let their battery drain completely, at risk of losing "any personal content" on those devices.
