Widevine Powers Flash Drive Movie Product
Seattle-based Widevine is enabling a new product which delivers movies using USB flash memory devices, by providing its digital rights management technology to Sonic Solutions, Sonic said this week. According to Sonic Solutions, Widevine is providing the DRM technology behind its new CinemaNow USB Movie Drive, a flash drive which includes a integrated media player and video codecs along with movies from Hollywood studios. Financial impact of the design win to Widevine was not disclosed. Widevine provides watermarking and DRM technology. The firm is backed by Constellation Ventures, Cisco Systems, Charter Ventures, Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP), Pacesetter Capital Group, The Phoenix Partners, TELUS and VantagePoint Venture Partners.
