GridNetworks Taps Widevine DRM
Seattle-based GridNetworks, which operates a service to deliver video to the Internet, said this morning it has partnered with neighboring Seattle firm Widevine to secure its content. According to GridNetworks, it will use Widevine's DRM tools to secure videos delivered bia its GridCast TV service. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. GridNetworks said it will use Widevine's DRM technology to secure content delivered through H.264, Adobe Flash, Microsoft Windows Media, and Microsoft Silverlight. Widevine is a provider of digital rights management and content projection software. GridNetworks is venture backed by Comcast, Cisco, and Panorama Capital; Widevine is funded by Cisco, Charter Ventures, Constellation Ventures, Dai Nippon Printing Co., PaceSetter Capital, Phoenix Partners, TELUS, and VantagePoint Venture Partners.
