Glympse Launches Public Beta

Redmond-based Glympse launched its public beta today, saying that it is offering a new location-based service which allows users to share their location via their mobile phone. The firm said the service will help users share their whereabouts on T-Mobile G1 phones, with later rollout to iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, and other devices. The firm said its service will pinpoint users' locations on a dynamic map, and allow people to get real-time information about where a sender is, what speed they are traveling, and their estimated time of arrival if they have a destination designated. Glympse was founded by Microsoft veterans Bryan Trussel, Jeremy Mercer, and Steve Miller.
