Vidoop Announces Second Wave of Layoffs
Portland-based Internet security software developer Vidoop reported on its company blog Wednesday that it will be cutting back on staff. The number of affected employees was not disclosed. According to its Web site, the privately held, venture-backed firm employs some 30 people. The layoffs mark the second time in about six months that the Portland, Ore.-based company has downsized—Vidoop made a similar announcement on Nov. 3. According to co-founder Luke Sontag, the current recession necessitated the layoffs by "drastically lengthening" the sales cycle for new technology. Vidoop develops OpenID software used to authenticate and secure Internet logins.
