ESI Buys Technology From Irish Firm

Portland-based Electro Scientific Industries, a developer of laser and photonic systems for the microelectronics industry, said late Tuesday that it has acquired all of the intellectual property rights, and certain hardware and software components of XSiL Ltd. SXiL develops semiconductor process products, and is based in Dublin, Ireland. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. ESI said the acquisition will enable the firm to developed advanced thin wafer laser dicing systems.
