Pelago Adds SMS, Eye-Fi Support
Seattle-based Pelago, maker of the Whrrl mobile social networking application, announced Thursday that the firm has added support for SMS and email to its service, along with inking a deal with digital camera card maker Eye-Fi. According to Pelago, users can now send simple SMS text messages or email to update their accounts on the service. In addition, the firm said that it has partnered with Eye-Fi, a maker of Wi-fi enabled digital memory cards for cameras; the firm said that users of Eye-Fi's wireless memory cards can now upload their pictures directly to the Whrrl service. Whrrl is a mobile application which allows users to share their everyday "stories"--photos, video, and text--with friends via their cell phones. The application supports a number of cell phones, including the Apple iPhone. Pelago is venture backed by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, T-Venture, Bezos Expeditions, Trilogy Equity Partners, and Reliance Technology Ventures.
