Pelago Adds Local Event Listings to Whrrl Service
Seattle-based Pelago Inc., operators of the recently launched Whrrl, revealed Tuesday that the mobile social networking service now supports local events. As a result, Pelago explained, Whrrl users can locate and learn about nearby happenings by searching by event name, date, venue and geography or by browsing event lists other network members have compiled. Pelago said those listings will not only include the "what, when and where," but also opinions, interests and whether those members plan to attend. Whrrl is currently available in several major metropolitan areas, including Seattle and Portland, Ore., Pelago noted. Founded by former Amazon.com senior executives, Pelago is a privately held company backed by Trilogy Equity Partners, Bezos Expeditions and Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield and Byers.
