Clearwire Names New CEO, Moves Wolff To Co-Chair
Kirkland, Washington-based Clearwire has shuffled its executives, saying Monday afternoon that it has named William T. Morrow as the firm's new CEO. According to Clearwire, Morrow replaces co-founder and current CEO Benjamin G. Wolff, who will become co-chairman of the firm's board of directors. Morrow was most recently President and CEO of Pacific Gas & Electric, and has also served at Vodafone Ltd., Vodafone Group PLC, Japan Telecom Co., and AirTouch International. Clearwire chairman Craig O. McCaw said in a statement that through his move to the board, Wolff will "be able to dedicate more of his time to Clearwire's strategic direction and transactional opportunities." Clearwire is looking to develop a nationwide wireless network based on the WiMax wireless networking protocol.
